Club Information

The Penn State Roller Hockey Club seeks to give students and community members a way to play the sport of roller hockey throughout the Spring and Fall semesters at the recreational and competitive levels. As of Fall 2006, the club will be accessible to members in the following ways.

Travel / Club Team:

  • Division 1 (A Team)
  • B Division (B Team)

IM Leagues

  • Competitive Division (Comp League)
  • Recreational Division (Rec League)

The Division 1 team (A Team) competes in the ECRHA and is the highest level of collegiate roller hockey in the US. The competition in the league is steep as players are up against the best other schools have to offer in terms of roller hockey ability.

The B Division team (B Team) also plays in the ECRHA and is a supplemental team to the A Team. The B team also provides the travel team with a way of developing talent by putting players into the same environment as the Div. 1 league, but at a slightly lower level of competition.

The IM Leagues Competitive Division provides a fun and inexpensive way for members to play on teams amongst their friends on campus. The Comp league is designed for groups of players that have been playing hockey for an extended period of time. There is no requirement for joining this league, but typically a few years of roller hockey house league experience is recommended. This will be run out at the local YMCA.

The IM Leagues Recreational Division provides a fun and inexpensive way for members to play on teams amongst their friends on campus. The Rec League is designed for students that enjoy playing hockey but don't have a lot of experience playing. Teams are typically made up of fraternities, other club's members, and random assortments of friends that are looking to play roller hockey but do not want a highly competitive atmosphere.
